Vaporizer vs Humidifier
Many people get confused between these two different products. At the end of the day they do the same thing but there are differences.
Humidifier
A humidifier’s job is to add moisture to the air to prevent health and sickness from the air in your home being too dry. This is often the result of using Heaters or Air conditioning and can cause all sorts of problems from dry skin to severe sinus pain and headaches.
A humidifier works by simply using a sponge to absorb the water contained in the tank and then blowing it with a fan. This forces moisture into the air and improves air quality. These products have become so good they run almost silently and will not disturb you at night. The humidifier can measure the moisture percentage in the air and adjust the power of the fan which will change the quantity of moisture pumped out. Once the moisture level reaches the optimum the machine will cut out. Really the whole process works on evaporation.
These days you can buy a whole house humidifier system that can keep your entire house at the recommended moisture level. This actually can help to keep any wooden doors and other items from warping or bending at different times of the year.
If you have a young baby in the home then a humidifier is highly recommended as this can help alleviate many airway symptoms that can cause bad sleeping patterns and other congestive problems. Some of the latest models actually contain soothing lights and even scents to help your baby sleep!
Vaporizer
A vaporizer is different as it is essentially just a boiler that boils water and then releases steam into the atmosphere. In order for this to work the machine needs to heat up to a boiling point which will use a lot more electricity and also means there are hot surfaces around the bedroom. I personally would not be comfortable with a machine boiling water all night in my babies bedroom! The result is the same, moisture is added to the air.
The Bottom Line
The reason we want to look at these products is to keep our family healthy and the air quality decent. A humidifier will achieve this in a much safer way with lower electricity usage and no element boiling water. There really is no point in looking at buying a Vaporizer!
